Aside from another Alternator failure and my occasional 'pop' my last 4k
miles were very pleasant.
Re the Alternator: the stud that connects the external lead to the innards
literally burnt to a crisp. What probably contributed to the high output was
my screwup in leaving headlights on while going to the candy store (Camping
World).
I inspected this freshly rebuilt Alternator myself before installation to
assure all was tight and to replace the skimpy fibre washer that's usually
installed with a thick fibre insulation piece. I was going to epoxy the
whole mess and perhaps I should've, but that's water under the bridge.
I've been running the 150 Amp aftermarket variety and am planning to go back
to standard issue. If nothing else, at least I can buy them at most parts
stores with a lifetime warranty likely.
But I've been wondering about duals. Has it been done? Any thoughts?
Jim... if you're listening, how's it coming with the GenSet kit? I think my
current contents of the PowerDrawer has powered it's last lightbulb
and
I'm desperately looking for a replacement in the same space. Anyone else
have ideas/experiences of GenSet replacement?
At least with a working GenSet I'd have it's 12 volt output, plus the
ability to run an AC charger.
