And then there's the Time Warner Cable / ABC war. ABC (owned by Disney)
wants more $$ from TWC to air its shows. TW is balking and is using the
Houston market as an example case: they have threatened to simply not air
ABC at all on their cable. ABC here has cut a rebate deal with DISH network
so folks can get dish technology and bypass cable; TWC has cut their cable
installation rate in retaliation, .....and on and on. Both have spend big
bucks on full page ads tearing each other apart! The "War of the
Technologies" !! No resolution as yet....
In the end the consumer will pay: If ABC wins, TWC will simply raise their
rates again; if TWC wins, ABC may not allow the airing of its most popular
shows on cable, and we go back to rabbit ears. It's like two very large
mammoths fighting!
