Not much luck this past saturday at the local junkyards. I must have hit 10
of them. I thought I had hit paydirt at one of them when I saw the owner
and his GMC in a photo pinned to the bulletin board. He recently sold it
and had no hidden stock of parts. Most places just laughed at me when I
said I wanted a Eldo or Toro from the early to mid 70's commenting that
those were crushed long ago. Have these people no respect for the dead?

Back to the reason for my post. I am still looking for an air cleaner. I
guess I should give up on the preheat shroud with Arch looking for one of
those. Does anyone that has upgraded to TBI want to sell their stock air
cleaner? Or know someone that does?

Chip,
Having visited both Cinnabar and Buskrik's on occasion, I've seen a lot of
of old parts laying around those places. Therefore, it's hard for me to
believe that one of them wouldn't have an old air cleaner that you could buy.
Or Jim Bounds for that matter might have one.

Chip,

I may know where there are a couple old 1st gen Eldos that I came across
while looking for disk brake parts. The problem is finding the time to get
out there to be sure they haven't gone to the crusher. I'll try this Friday
if not before.

Chip,

I was at a PicknPull in Rocklin Ca yesterday and saw a 78 Tornado. If you
tell me exactly what it is your looking for (Don't have your original post)
and how much you think it's worth I'll see if it's there and if their price
is ok I'll get it. If you get back soon I can go today otherwise will have
to wait til Fri/Sat. I don't have a GMC (yet) so try to be pretty specific
and don't rely on my knowledge (lack of) of GMC'c.

Now this makes me look dumb. Following a couple of folks advice from the
net, what I though would be a long shot turned out to pay off. I picked up
the phone and called a few known parts sources for GMC's and low and behold,
I was able to get just the air cleaner I was looking for (at least I was
told it would fit). A couple of places said no, but good luck finding one.
Alex Sirum's place said sure we have some. We struck a deal and they will
ship it to me UPS.

They seem to be good folks to work with.

ps. Thanks for all the offers from netters that were going to look out for
one for me.
