Drivers side half shaft

Just got back from our 2,000 mile vacation.
Only problem was the boot splitting on the drivers side axel. Since new, the boot never looked correct. The ribs never really fully expanded. They
always looked twisted, and collapsed.
Not to be creepy, but since new, it never looked right. It looked like a ribbed condom with a vacuum pump on the inside, with creases, and sorta
twisted... not fully inflated, or uniform... crap I'm going to hell, but true explanation of that.....
Couple of questions.
1. Half shafts only have 8.000 miles on them. Seems like the boot should get more longevity than that.
2. My ride heights are correct. 13 1/8" up front. That is what the manual says. I've heard 12 1/2" might be better . 13 1/8 has a pretty good bend at
the boot. Opinions on that????
3. I've replaced both sides with rebuilt ones 8,000 miles ago, and it was a pain in the a**. But I've forgotten which side was the worst. Any
reminders on that?
Unfortunately, I think it's going to be the drivers side...

And opinions or volunteers would be greatly appreciated!!

If you got them fro us, tke a pic so I can see which I you have. We had
two types, and know one tended to wear out.

Glad to hear about a successful 2000 mile trip in a GMC. At least the torn boot can been repaired at home, and not on the side of the road.

It was actually a very successful trip.
Just a small leak in the black water tank, 2 year old kitchen faucet developed a internal water drip (Chinese), torn CV boot, and broke the plastic
wienguard antenna crank. I wish they had one made of metal...

Best news over all was that after 2,000 to calculate, I'm getting 7 MPG!! I'm very happy about that.. that's with towing, bike rack with 2 bicycles
behind the tracker, 2 AC's, and a roof pod as drag, and running the dash AC at all times.

Jim K at Applied GMC was more than helpful and fair with the CV shaft. He offered to exchange the CV shaft for free!! But I am going to counter with
cost plus 10%.
We need him in the community. So he has to turn a profit.

I wish I knew how to post pictures here so I would not have to get into the "creepy" descriptions.......
