Shan,

If you don't mind installing valences around your windows, I heartily
recommend Hunter-Douglas cellular blinds. They have a "double honeycomb"
construction (when you look at the sides), lined with aluminum foil. That
construction, when used with valences having enclosed bottoms, are VERY
efficient heat/cold barriers. They're durable and very easy to clean on
the very rare occasions when they need it. Ours look almost new after 19+
years. Their only "disadvantage" is that they admit NO light when close,
'tho' I understand they are now available with translucent sections above
the opaque section. Or that lower from the top for improved privacy with a
little light admission.

This photo was not intended to show them to good advantage, but you can
sort of tell how they look:

We also installed Hunter Douglas Duettes in 1997 and the ard still in great shape. We used a contiounous loop cord system so as to not have dangling cords.
Ours did not have the foil liner (room darkening) but were more translucent double honeycomb. They give us privacy and insulate against both heat and cold.

Yes, they are relatively expensive but they have a lifetime replacement warranty. Mine have lasted for 21 years and should last another 20 years or more.

Sometimes you have to pay for top quality

Do you happen to sell the wooden window valences as well?

We don’t sell the wooden valences.
They can be made with plywood and then cover with the fabric of your choice.
We just recovered our existing valences this past winter. Not that difficult and they turned out very nice.

I made my window valances. I used 1x3 at the top, 1x2 at the bottom, 1x6
cut to follow the curve on the sides, and case molding on the front.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/interior-improvements/p25241-dinetter-window-valence.html

I think I spent two hours making and installing all of them for the coach.
I used a finishing nailer to put them together and then used stainless
steel sheet metal tabs, bent into an L, and screwed into the aluminum strut
on the wall with self-drilling screws to hold them in place.

I installed the cheapest cellular shade I could find at Home Depot, because
I knew I still had some water leaks and didn't want to ruin expensive
stuff, and because that's what was available quickly and I needed to finish
up the project. And here they are, nearly ten years later, and only one of
them has been ruined by water damage (though I still haven't replaced it).
I think these magnify light as it comes through (read: These do not darken
at all), but I tend to move slowly in the morning and these help. But any
shade can be screwed to the underside of that 1x3 at the top.

You might also check with Home Depot. They have their own brand which we found to be a real quality product. Cellular, black out, day night, cordless
and easy to manipulate. The ones we bought are claimed to have an 'R' 4.7 value. Not cheap but we/she love them.

We bought from Blinds Chalet. I liked the online experience and variety. Not a recommendation, as returns, etc., are probably easier at a brick-and-mortar.

https://www.blindschalet.com/

And taking recommendations from here we used cellular blinds.

I highly recommend contacting Gary Coaster for your shades and blinds. It is always a good thing to support our specialty vendors and it's nice to
know you will be getting the right thing and that it will fit the first time.

Hi All:
GMCers Mike and Billie Kelley here (back in Peoria, IL. for the summer and fall) - I met and spoke w/ the Coasters at length at the GMCMI Tucson Spring Convention and he is one terrific guy w/ a very neat and caring lady.
I am sure you would be well served in giving them a call and letting give you a quote for your desired shades!
