The gal who bought my 73-23 Glacier out of Santa Cruz, Ca. has started to
experience dieseling when shutting down. She has had to pull it into gear on
occasion to get it to quit. She did not experience that before putting it
into a 6 month storage outside last winter.

Thoughts please.

Bad gasoline, and sticking throttle linkage.

Dean,

I bet it is like my 73-23 Glacier....
The idle is set too high. At least that cured mine.

put in premium gas if that sols the problem, and it did mine, run higher octane gas and or adjust the timing.

i usually alternate 89 and 93 about every half tank and no running on.

Turn it off in gear Then shift to Park.
This will do it until the problem is solved.

Life is too short to hold a grudge; slash some tires and call it even !

Set the idle properly. Low.
Don't blame gas.

Also look at the automatic choke. It might be stuck up one notch on the fast idle cam.

While I agree E10 can be problematic, Im not sure you can blame the dieseling on it.

Plenty of problems with dieseling before ethonol was used. I know of several gmc vehicles [mostly cadilacs] that had factory anti diesel solinoinds
that completely closed the throttle when the ignition was off.

From what Ive seen the cause is mosly carbon buildup . Ild gas can certainly exacerbate it, and so can an excessive idle setting
