Does ATF flow from the trans into the top, or the bottom of the radiator.

I'm putting an extra aux cooler in. And that cooler needs to be in the trans line that goes back to the trans. And I don't remember. ( Age thing. Maybe?) And pulling the lines to check is messy. Bob Dunahugh

From the transmission to the upper fitting of the trans cooler. Out the lower fitting to the uppermost input of your aux cooler. Out the lower
fitting and back to the transmission. I'm adding an outboard cooler to mine, and after talking to Manny, I'll be using premade brake lines from the
parts house and unions for them. He said they come in various lengths and the factory flares are less trouble than doing your own on steel line
(unless you got one of the high dollar flaring tools). It will all be plumber in steel lines.

Bob,

For now and future reference, go to bdub.net and download the Chevrolet
"P-30 Chassis Manual". You'll find a very useful appendix in that
now-unavailable book about transmission cooling, ATF life, etc -- including
how to connect a cooler. Many other useful things in there equally
applicable to our GMCs.
