Do all units have the roof weither they have a single A/c unit or 2?

Im concidering possibly putting a second unit on but it currently only has one central unit.

The roofs on the 26’ are typically the same.you have a front vent fan, AC unit and in the rear a rear vent fan. The rear opening where the vent fan is located also has a power wire located in the foam insulation. When you remove the rear vent fan in is there. Unless your going to spend time in Hot Humid weather then a good 15.5 BYU unit should fit your needs.

Rich, Some, like my Canyonlands, came without a rear vent or A/C. There is however, the framing and wiring to install a fan or A/C under the skin.

my 77 didn't have any wiring or framing for the rear AC.
just a hole with the vent van.
I had to use some aluminum 1-1/2 x 1 " L to frame it and ran a wire to the fuse box .

All day affair. Had 3 of my kids and one granddaughter to help.

Majority of GM coaches located the front one toward the center so it can
cool the rear as well as the front.
Royal models mounted the front ones further forward .
Look out on rear A/C mounting as the Ladder railing might need to be
moved.Not a hard project.

My 77 E2 has 2 GM installed DuoTherm units. The front unit has higher BTU rating than the rear. The front unit is taller with an added aluminum ring
at base of shroud to fit the taller condenser coil on back of unit.

Our 76 Eleganza II has two DuoTherm units front and rear. The rear unit does interfear with the original rear-ladder/railing. In our case the piece
that goes from the left had ladder rail to the railing section that goes across the back is missing. I think that the second unit was added some time
after production, since I would assume that during production they would have move this railing section backward to clear the unit. Additionally the
roof cross bracing is not the same. For the front unit the unit is boxed in with aluminum ribs while in the rear, the unit has small aluminum
stand-off's like the front vent fan has to keep the unit's inside surface flush with the cieling. I currently have the cieling removed if anyone would
like pictures.

Rich if you get a chance could you send a couple pics....i have a Hughes coach which started as a transmode as you guys know so im worried that im
opening up a can of worms by thinking of installing dual units.

I'll take some pictures tonight and post them. Also I was checking out the GMC Assembly manual which clearly shows that the single front A/C unit
would be identified as RPO "CNL" and the Twin roof mounted units as RPO "CNV". The specification decal on the inside of the glove box for our 76
Elaganza II shows "CNL602" which seems to verify only front roof mounted installed at factory. Also if you look at UPC 1C3 sheet 1 in the assembly
manual you can see front and rear "hatch opening" where the A/C's mount. Also RPO UNR (UPC 1K3 sheet 29) is prewire Regular Production Option for rear
roof mounted Air Conditioner. Your glove box sheet would show this option if the coach originally was wired this way.

The 26=E2=80=9D roof structure is the same in all the coach bodies. That m=
eans that there are 3 areas of the roof structure that you can mount either=
a vent fan assembly or an AC unit along the centerline of the roof. Typic=
ally the coach comes with a vent fan in the front location and rear locatio=
n with an AC mounted in the center location. A 12/2 W/GRN is run to the mi=
ddle opening and the rear opening has a 12/2t W/GRN in the foam coiled up, =
you have to kind of dig it out. The rear wiring is not terminated in the C=
B box, but coiled up inside the box. Most coaches only came with a center =
air and front and rear vent fans. A limited number had twin AC units with =
the front being a15500BTU and the rear a 13500 BTU unit. The wiring varies =
depending if you have 50 or 30 amp shore cable. For the coaches that have =
been converted to 30 amp power cords you can only run one AC unit. Coaches=
that have the 30 amp cord typically run a separate 20 amp cable that provi=
des power to the rear AC unit on it own circuit if so equipped with second =

J.R. so im assuming you mean the shore cable was a 50amp for dual A/C factory and not 2 separate shore cables.....so 50amp to the box then a feed for
front air that was 30amp and then a feed for rear air that was 20amp?
