My alternator has been acting funny (in the green then yellow then green on
the Digipanel) so I decided to install the DL7157 100 Amp Alternator spoken
of highly on these pages. I had some problems 7 or 8 years ago with the
generator belt jumping the pulley. I cured it by aligning the pulleys with
spacers on the generator pulley. I tried to do the same with the new
generator and guess what, the shaft on the new generator is 1/8" shorter
than the old generator. Has anyone had any problems with these generators
throwing the belt? Will 1/8" make a big difference on belt alignment or is
it close enough? If anyone else has had any experience with these, send a
message. BTW it's a '77 Palm Beach with a 455. TIA.
