Hi
Just took a break from under the GMC to read the mail.
Just to clarify I have found the two items that I wanted to replace from
local supplies (Pep Boys and Auto Zone) The brake hoses that I got by
specking 75 Olds Toronado are Raybestos (BH36674 Left Side and BH 36675
Right SIde)and are an exact replacement for what is on my 78 Royale.By
exact I don't mean close or almost. Everything is exactly the same the
length, the fittings and the location of the metal collarsthat the clamps
use to hold the hose are in exactly the same location. Since I have owned
the Royale for 16 of its 21 years (just Turned 21 Production in April 78)
I do not believe the hoses have ever been replaced. BTW even though the
brakes functioned the inner section of the hose is so swelled up that no
fluid leaks out the hose when disconnected from caliper. If I release the
brake pipe at the other end fluid pours out.

The other item which I obtain was left and right side rebuilt brake
calipers. The 75 Olds Toronado Spec was used. What I received is exactly
the same including the same casting numbers.
I have not yet gotten any rotors as mine are still OK BUT I sure would like
to know.
The GMC Disc rotor is attached with 4 bolts from inside going outboard into
hub. If the Toronado does not have 4 bolts how many does it have ? Remember
the 8 lugs have nothing to do with the brake rotor.
Breaks over, back out under it again.

I don't remember seeing a reply to this. Will a Toronado rotor work for the
coach? Just attach the 8 bolt hub to the rotor and voila, GM city. Is this right?

No I have not gotten a reply. The parts I was speaking about that are exact
are the brake calipers. Since they were right the next step is the disc.
Remember it fastens on with 4 bolts on backside of hub. Guess it is just a
matter of finding Toronado disk and looking at. Someone out there must have
already done that .

I checked this morning on a possible rotor swap. The Toronado rotor has the five
bolt wheel pattern as an integral part of the rotor. The Gm has the bolt pattern
bolted, as a separate part, to the rotor. It looks like the rotor must be
purchased from one of the GM suppliers. Darren
