Discovery at Rally in Colfax

Joe made up a temporary cable using three small wires and I attached it
between the battery and a stud welded to the frame formerly used for holding
down the battery. I am replacing it with a proper cable straight to the
frame. The under performing ground cable will remain in place. I havnt found
the end of it yet. I think it goes back to the bathroom area at the 110/12
volt panels.

Do not mix house and engine grounds. Bad unexplainable stuff will happen.
Same thing applies with shore power and coach stuff.

Be sure to clearly separate 12V wiring from 120V wiring. For my own coach, I use automotive primary wire for all 12V wiring. The common practice of black as the negative wire has a risk of getting confused with the 'hot' wire of the 120V system. Be aware.

Dean,

The house battery should be grounded to the body because that's where all
the 12 volt stuff is grounded. The chassis battery should be
grounded to the engine. The body, on our 77, is grounded to the frame at
the RH body mount. The engine is grounded to the frame
at the rear trans mount. Off hand, I can't think of anything that is
actually grounded to the frame.
