Dimmer switch

The lever & links used work the dimmer switch is a little complex to install
into the GMC column, an easier solution would be to obtain late model steering
column and use it to replace the GMC column, the trick is finding an compatable
column. I,ve done this with my El Camino, but have not tried it with our 73
GMC..

That sounds like an excellent option, when I,ve had GM columns apart,
the switch itself is mounted on the outside of the column about halfway
between the dash and the floor, and is operated by a stiff wire OR a wire
rope/cable up to the turn lever itself.
