GMCnetters,

Heinz is the second person I've heard of in the past week that's getting
excellent results out of the Agfa ephoto307. Digital camera prices have
dropped dramatically lately and this little gem is now selling for under
$200(www.buycomp.com). If you're planning on putting together a web
page(or doing an article for the "Tech" page) a digital camera is
the way to go. The ephoto307(www.agfa.com) is a basic no frills,
optical viewfinder(no LCD panel), fixed focus, point and shoot camera
but, as you can see, it gets the job done.

I wanted a little more capability and, after some diligent web surfing,
found that Olympus had just reduced the price of the D220L by almost
$100. I ordered one from www.ssdonline.com for $289. It has macro
capability and an LCD viewpanel(in addition to optical viewfinder).

Keep in mind when shopping that the maximum resolution needed for web
work is 640x480. You only need the "megapixel" resolution if you're
printing photos. Also, the LCD panels have a couple drawbacks. They
are tough on batteries and tend to "black out" in bright sunlight. I
wanted one mainly to review/edit photos "in the field" and will use the
optical viewfinder for most shots.

I apologize for the slightly off-topic post, but I thought many of you
might find this info useful.

Patrick:

I don't agree you need apologize.

Given the direction our methods of communication are going, I appreciate
the below information because I have been interested in obtaining a
digital camera. Your feedback is very helpful to me.

Thanks.
