I am a big Nikon fan. They aquired lens technology during W.W.II from =
the Germans for submarines. They both still have the best lenses. At =
work, our Sony Mavic has failed twice. Floppy drive failed the first =
time. Mechanical things wear faster than IC's do.=20
I am also frugal. Technology is bringing prices down exponentially on =
all electronic devices. I'm waiting.=20
While I'm waiting I have been using Seattle Film Works service. They put =
my pictures on CD-ROMs. When my four little kids leave in 10 to 15 years =
I will hand them a copy of our family album in whatever format is =
available for their computer of the future.
The resolution from the CD is comparable to the Sony's best. Often =
better. Where it excels is in contrast, tones and indoor flash. If I =
even need an enlargement I have a real negative with a bazillion x =
bazillion resolution.
I do send them everything UPS so I can track it. They return it via UPS.
