Just to respond to a couple of things. The OD trans does make a little difference with the mileage and the lock up converter helps I'm sure as our
final drives are quite close. I think the electronic engine controls (pump, etc) along with the electronic trans control are a large part in the
better economy. The charge air cooler tends to improve efficiency as well as cooling and potentially performance. I also tend to drive quite
conservatively running 62-64 mph which keeps the 6.5 closer to it's sweet spot @ 1850 rpm.
I used a single cylinder water cooled double balance shaft Kubota engine/apu from a over the road truck as a base for my generator. I remote mounted
the radiator to facilitate the building of a sound box to try to contain the noise of the little bugger. I think it's no louder than the Onan it
replaced. It's a 3 kW unit and seems to run a single A/C with no protest. The Kubota sips fuel at a 1/8 gph rate @ 50% load which doesn't make much of
a dent in a 75+ gallon fuel tank.
Oh you guys... Johnny, Kerry, Billy. Any of you are capable of doing the same work given the time I'm sure. But thank you for the nice words.
