Actually, it's most likely due to the "bulk" precedence assigned to
mailinglists emails(like USPS "bulk" mail). If a server gets two requests
at the same time, it will give priority to the highest precedence. This can
cause odd things to happen with mailinglist email delivery, such as
receiving replies before the original question. I've noticed that messages
sent from my work email account have been delayed as much as 24 hours.
Everything goes through our parent company's servers and process a bunch of
email.
