Decal striping removal

Alot of stuff was pretty cool out of the 70’s but vinyl striping was not one of them, and apparently the OO(original owner) like them alot. Anyhow, I’m using a heat gun to remove followed by a 3m rubber decal remover. Seeing a long hall ahead of me unless there is better ways?

Unfortunately, that is the only way I know of. I used some cheap, plastic razor blades and a heat gun to get my stripes off on my other RV. If they are real stubborn, people swear by those rubber wheel decal removers.

Yep, got those rubber wheels as well. Takes a bit to take off the glue. Kinda wondering if there is something chemically that would break down the glue better for removal.

When i removed my decals/stripes, I used the heat gun and the plastic razor blades. When I did it right, the decal with all the glue would come off. The trick was to get the decal hot enough, but not too hot. Then slowly pry up a corner of the decal with the plastic razor blade, and pull the decal back onto itself, keeping a steady flow of heat. Too hot, and the decal would come apart. Not hot enough, and the glue would not release from the RV. This won't work on badly checked decals, I'm afraid.

Gotcha, will try that method tomorrow, got lots to practice on!

Bought this product to try to get at the glue after the decal striping was removed. Seems to work ok but am wondering if Acetone or Goof off could work as well? Or just found this which was meant to remove any silicone around the windows and such.

Just want to ad. I was out working on the decal removal with a heat gun and my neighbor came home and told me he use to work at a body detail shop and said they ise to go up to the car wash and power washed off their decals they needed removed. So I thought what the heck I’ll give it a try. All one side was removed in a half hour. So all, might consider that method too.

Just an edit to the above. When using the power washer it did remove the vinyl stripping pretty quickly but left the adhesive strip laying below it, but the same happen on the side I just used the heat gun on. Getting the glue sheet off has been most of the work. This will take some time to get completely cleaned.
