Many modern radios draw power even when turned off. This serves to keep
the clock running and memory alive. If my memory is correct some of the
early ETR radios drew about 10 ma in standby. I assume this applies to
other assorted electronics. Anything with an IR remote would also be a
culprit here. In an earlier life I installed a switch under the dash to
power down the radio when in storage.
