My 75 Palm Beach has a davo/bunk, but a PO removed the two lap belts. I
want to replace them so the grandkids can be secured while we're
moving. I called Cinnabar, but they don't carry seat belts. Does
anyone have experience with an aftermarket source for these lap belts.
They're pretty straightforward, 2-point belts. The mounting hardware is
intact on the wall. I've tried to scan all existing GMC web sites for
info about this, but I haven't come across a link that addresses this.
Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

I think that a lot of the auto parts stores have them or can order
them. Checker, Autozone, etc. If not, they you can mail order them
from J.C. Whitney in Chicago (see http://jcwhitney.com/). You can
also go to the junkyard and take them out of a wreck.

Tom & Cindy,

You might try JC Whitney:

They have belts listed. I'm thinking of adding seat belts to the rear area
of my coach. Everyone wants to ride back there and currently there is
nothing installed to restrain them. The big problem will be to find a
suitable anchor.

I just installed belts I bought from JC Whitney. They cost about $10.00
each for the non-retractable ones. They are on sale in the latest catalog
. I did discover that they were too short for anyone but the kids. Be sure
to measure and leave a bit extra. They can be adjusted.

I have some original lap belts form the dinette side. If they're the same
you're welcome to them.

Henry

I was able to get seatbelts for the dinette
from Campers Choice and they were quite reasonable IIRC.

Thanks for the input re. davo lap belts. IIRC (the coach is at the
parking lot right now, so I'm going off of recent memory, which has
proved to be dangerous!), the davo belts don't have the newer,
conventional-type mount, in which case the ones in J C Whitney's
e-catalog wouldn't fit without remounting to the frame. I'll take
another look at the current mounting hardware setup this weekend, and
also check out Checker. Henry, I'll try to determine if the dinette lap
belt mounts are similar to the davo mounts, and then I'll get back to
you. Thanks again, all!

BTW, I subscribe to the Digest version, which is why I'm a little slow
in acknowledging your replies.

Interesting thread on belts. My manual says the couch has seat belts, but
the dinette does not and they said that people should not sit in the
dinette while traveleing. Did some of the coaches put seat belts on the
dinette. Mine is an eleganza II 1977.

Our 75 Palm Beach had belts in both places.

My '76 Palm Beach has belts in the Dinette area as well at the couch. I think
there are 2 on each side of the dinette. They always fall under and I have to
reach under to get them after the coach has been sitting parked for a while.
I make anyone who will listen to me (mainly kids, as lots of adults ignore me)
use them.

My Palm Beach (76) had a dinette with seatbelts (OEM). My Royale (77) has a
dinette w/o seatbelts with a warning not to sit in the dinette while
travelling.

Richard,

I've had adults ignore me too. But when I turn off the engine and just sit
there they reluctantly get the message (most of the time). On those rare
occasions that they don't get the message a simple "this vehicle doesn't
more until everybody is belted, no exceptions" has always gotten through.
My car, my rules (plus the state of Ca requires everyone to be belted in or
I can get fined).

Henry

I am planning to weld my belts shut once the kids are strapped in. Liberal
grinding on the waistline allows proper adhesion. This is the only known way to
keep 5 and 7 year olds in place.

My 1977 Royale has seatbelts at the dinette.

. Al C. asked, Did some of the coaches put seat belts on the
dinette. Mine is an eleganza II 1977.

My 1973 Painted Desert came with seat belts on the dinette.

This will result in high maintenance--feeding & watering, etc., or will
result in rat/maggot syndrome.

I bought black belts at Autozone for
about $15.00 a set. They matched
my existing belts exactly. Try them.
