I speak from limited experience, but the dash air last Summer
was a real plus on some very hot days.

I second those thoughts. We went to AZ last Aug and the dash AC conked
out. It was pretty pathetic when it did work, unbearable when it quit.
My wife wouldn't even ride in the front seat it was so hot. It's fixed
now and I wouldn't be without it.
