Right now I have the right side hub and knuckle off and I'm ready to
install the Cinnabar bearing kit.I would also like to inspect the CV
joints and replace the boots. In reviewing the archives it seems most
use the Napa clamp bands and installation tool (3192 or 3374?) but I
find nothing conclusive on the make of boot.Can I assume the Napa boot
is not accectable, only their clamp?

I used the original rubber boots since several said they were softer and
lasted 20 years any way.

Did you see the band number ??

Ray,

Either boot, black rubber or blue "super boot" will work fine. Just don't
overpack with grease and be sure to tighten clamp band with a torque wrench.
Sometimes boot kits come with three packs of grease and that's too much. Go
with the instructions in the maintenance manual - fill the joint and the
folds in the boot, no more. I'd also recommend cleaning out the clamp
groove with a thin strip of emery cloth.

I had one foot out the door on my way to Napa when I read this message;
guess I'll wait until I hear further on this.

I've had the NAPA polyurethane boots for two years. So far, so good.

I installed the black boot from NAPA one year ago & found it split 3 weeks ago. I
replaced it w/a super boot. The box stated it is made by MOOG. I haven't had it
on the road yet. Installation was very easy. It came w/3 packs of grease. I used
only 2. NAPA wants $14, a local parts store ordered me a second one for $11, made
by MOOG.

I used the MOOG clamp, which is a pinch type that came w/the boot, on the inner end of the boot. I think the double
wrap type provides better clamping & I used that on the outer end. My NAPA states it can no longer obtain this
style clamp, so I purchased it from a local parts house.

Curious as to where you found your double wrap bands and the manufacture.
Unfortunately, I've got to do the labor and find another double
wrap clamp.
