I took the big black servo pot off my 76 Palm Beach and found that it will
not hold a vacumn. I guess that's why it won't work. The light comes on,
but it won't control the speed.

I called the local dealer and they have been trying to get me one but all
requests come back "part discontinued". Not having any luck at local after
market parts houses either.

Do any of ya'll have a lead on where to get one of these? Or have another
way to fix this problem? I'm fixin to go out to see if I can patch the
holes in the diaphram. (Ya never know till ya try ! )

Thanks

I put a layer of weatherstrip cement on the little splits in the servo. It
held enough to prove that this was indeed the whole problem. I went to the
junk yard (on Emory's advice, THANKS!) and got an identical servo off a ~78
or so Monte Carlo for $5.. My cruise control works like new! :-)

It's gonna be more fun to drive now.

btw, we got the coach last november and so haven't driven it on a very hot
day yet. It's about 95 today. I took it out about 10 miles enjoying how
the cruise control worked. When I turned around to come back home, ....I
heard it!....., the Roar!. I put in the correct water temp sensor the
other day and it was a little above the 1/2 mark. It continued roaring
until I got up to about 50 mph and it quited down. The temp was back down
to the 1/2 mark.

I got a Hayden 2797 from Pep Boys in Abilene the other day. I guess I'll
keep it for a spare. Sure was proud to hear the roar that ya'll had been
talkin about though.

Thanks

Patch the holes, an excellent idea, and a whole lot cheaper. Someone has a
reference to a source for new transducers, however they are rather pricy.

It works at least for the last five years that i know of. If it's cracked,
A bit of Super glue, (loctite brand) works real well, with a bit of Silicone
to as a backup. The superglue works on broken O-rings too. In fact Loctite
developed a formulation for that specific purpose.

A word on the super glue, buy the best stuff you can find, preferably the
variety distributred/manufactured by Loctite. It's amazing how much better
this stuff is from the run of the mill super glue.

Good luck

Dave
