I wish our area was doing as well as most that have reported here.

We are in Oakland county Michigan, where the tally today (April 6) revealed: 3,380 confirmed cases (just the tip of the iceberg I'm afraid) with 185
dead. The local hospitals are full with no relief in sight.

We are OK, as we have no contact with anyone. We have a large lot so we can walk outside and not run into people. I have not entered a store in over
3 weeks with needed grocery items ordered online and delivered to the car. Plus there is Amazon.

A neighbor is an RN at a large local hospital and said that what you see on TV is what is happening in the hospital. It is very scary and bad! They
are allowed 1 mask per 12 hour shift so far until they run out. My son lives in Vienna, Austria and said they give out masks at grocery stores before
you enter. Also, they take the temperature of people before they enter the store. While here, we are instructed by the federal government to make
our own masks out of t-shirts and rubber bands. Good thing I have a small supply of N95 masks.

We use the GMC as a decontamination facility. We put newly acquired grocery and Amazon delivery items there to hopefully allow the virus to
deactivate. The reefer in there is a nice additional food storage location. It seems that we spend our days washing and rewashing our hands and
trying to avoid people.

I don't think this will be over for a long time. We will be staying home for an indefinite period of time.

We are pretty much writing off the season for GMC travel.

I personally feel that this is one of those defining moments in time that
determine what we are made of. Until two things happen, we might have to
live with the spectre of this plague looking over our shoulders for some
time to come.
One thing that is needed is an effective treatment regimen to save a
bunch of lives.
The other thing that is needed is a preventative vaccine that will
protect those not yet infected.
This is the real deal, make no mistake about it. Don't take it for
granted. We can do our part by not spreading it around, and that isn't too
difficult. Shelter in place, and use all sanitation measures at your
disposal. No unnecessary trips.

Well, the Gooberner of GA - who isn't the absolutely sharpest knife in the drawer - managed to get his foot out of his mouth and note that walking
outdoors in OK if you maintain distance. All the trails are closed because everybody in Atlanta tried to use them at once. My 'walking park' has so
far stayed empty, the beach is closed so no one much goes there. As long as it's empty we do a quarter to a half mile of me and the dogs daily.
Breaks the routine.
My yard is becoming the envy of the neighbors, and I'm normally the local slob.

It's fairly calm here in Americus. I've got a 1.3 mile walking loop around
the block or 2 miles around the block on each side of us. I try to make
one or the other at least every other day -- never see another soul except
in vehicles on the included 1/3 mile of US19.

We've managed to get by with one grocery run for each of the past 3 weeks.
I went this morning to Walmart and was about the 8th or 10th person in the
door at 0600. Most of us, but not all (including some employees) had on
masks and gloves. Thankfully I had a very few industrial N95 masks on hand
for us to use. Hopefully that will be the last run for 2 weeks or more.
At home, I brought the refrigerated items inside and left all others in the
back of the CRV to "air out" the "bugs" -- hopefully.

Everyone be careful out there -- stay home and work on your GMC (I'll be
putting the pan back on the transmission later today -- HOPEFULLY with all
the leaks stopped).

If any of y'all have a small ozone generator, it can come in handy
during these times. We have been using one for years to get rid of
musty smells in the old books and papers my wife sells. We place them
in a great big Coleman cooler with the little ozone generator inside and
usually the musty smell is gone in a day or so.

Ozone is a great disinfectant in high concentrations, and reports we
read say it 'should' kill the corona virus, though no actual tests have
been done at the moment. It's better than UV light as the ozonated air
will get into places the light won't. We have been putting our mail,
used masks, and other potentially contaminated items into the cooler for
4-6 hours of ozone. Can't tell you for sure that it works, but it
doesn't hurt, and we already had it available.

I know most folks on this list can come up with great steps to keep
themselves safe using the items they have around their home. If you
have 'MacGyver'ed' something useful for this crisis, please share!

Interesting here. They are issuing citations if you are not respecting the
stay at home order or distance . Up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine.
All this while they are releasing inmates due to overcrowding.
Staying busy, working on the coach, house projects but running out of stuff
to do. Add rain for the next four days just to make it fun. Home Depot
appears to be busy as usual.

Good news is all the gas tanks are full and plenty of supplies on hand.

Well, 2 or 3 days later (Wednesday) I wandered out again and went to the post office in Hebron, IN figuring it was a smallker place with not many to
many people. The clerk was wearing a mask which was the only one I saw for the next six hours of running around.

There road crews were out working on the highway, a construction crew was working on a new large church that they are building to be open next fall.
Every business was open in town except the restaurants were drive through only. I did not check the bars. It was like any pre-virus day. My
daughter called and asked to meet me her at the airport in Valparaiso which is about 17-18 miles away. On the way there I got stopped for about 5
minutes where they are building a new traffic circle on the state highway. There were 11 trucks from the local gas company working on a gas main line
relocation project that has been going on for about a month. There were about 40 cars waiting for the traffic direction to reverse.

I ran into another highway construction project with lots of workers.

I passed Walmart and TSC and both lots were about 1/2 full.

At the airport there were lots of cars running around and airplanes flying both GA and corporate flying. I worked in my hangar for a while cleaning
up stuff and dumping drain oil, etc from my GMC transmission project. The airport assistant manager stopped by and showed me a runway light
transformer, normally buried in the ground, that got hit by lightning last night. He had 15 of them hit and only 11 new ones in stock. It was a
really bad storm with 1/4 hail. One of the pilots was flying over to Midway to get 4 more.

Since he is in charge of operations I asked how traffic has been, He said based on fuel sales gasoline powered GA is up about 20%. Local based and
normal corporate traffic is down about 30%. Itinerant corporate (Cash only - non-account) lets call them visitors, is up about 60%. It turns out
they are mostly from the Chicago area. They fly over here, fill up, and file flight plans from Porter county, Indiana so they do not get hassled on
the other end in some states that are quarantining arrivals from the Chicago area. The 3 flight Flight schools are running about normal. He had to
order an extra load of jet fuel this week.

State and Federal highway traffic was slightly less than normal at 5 PM. On the way home that highway blockage was down to 8 gas company trucks, 3
back hoes, and one bulldozer.

We still have no deaths in the county. The main hospital has had 3 virus admissions and one was released.

So I am wondering why I have been hiding out at home for 2 weeks. I will still take precautions but since nothing much here is going on I'll probably
wander out some more and still stay out of Lake county In. and the Chicago area where the story is much, much different.

Ken,
I am not far from you (about 225 miles as the crow flies) and things here are totally different. Michigan had as of yesterday (4/8), 20,346 cases
with 959 dead. Oakland County where I live, has 4,007 cases with 234 dead. Our Zip Code has 33 cases, with 1 death out of a population of 19,227. And
that is, I believe, the tip of an iceberg. Of course there are some that say this is all "fake news".

I was out yesterday to Kroger to get my on-line order of grocery items delivered to my car (I won't go into a store) and noticed several funeral homes
that I drove by that seemed to be very full with parked cars. On the way home I passed by a cemetery and couldn't help but notice more that the
normal amount of activity, several funerals going on and several graves being dug. The large local hospital had several reefer trailers (morgue
overflow?) in the parking lot.

Several pilot friends of mine from our flying club emailed pictures that they took while doing touch and goes at Detroit Metro Airport (KDTW) which is
never ever allowed during normal times. Lots of airliners parked. I'd like to try to do that later this week if I can be assured our planes are
sanitized. The controllers seem to welcome that since they have so little to do these days.

Since I am in the age group that seems to be most affected by COVID-19 I am staying home. How long, I don't know, but I don't want to try and beat
the odds. If I got it and had to be put on a ventilator the odds of survival seem to be somewhere between 20-30%. I don't want to take a chance and
see if I can beat those odds.

We still get in our 10,000 steps a day. We used to be able to do that by walking around our sub and nearby subs. Our social distancing has expanded
to >50' since we think 6' might not be far enough. Now that school is out and kids are out and about, we drive over to the former K-Mart world
headquarters and walk about that abandoned hulk. That is a very interesting place. The parking lots are huge with no cars. I feel like we are acting
out the scenes of a Zombie Apocalypse movie, with out the zombies, when we are walking around over there.

FEDEX, UPS and USPS will deliver packages to the door and if a signature is required, will sign for us after they see one of us through our front
door. We take all grocery items, packages and mail to the GMC garage where they are allowed to decontaminate. Items needing refrigeration go into the
GMC's reefer until needed.

I am content to stay home. We are fortunate that we have a large house and lot and with the GMC garage we have plenty of places to hang out. I have a
lot of home improvement things I can work on and of course there is the motorhome with enough things that need to be done to occupy me for many
months.

I am hopeful we can go camping in the GMC (probably Michigan's UP since we have a place up there) in the fall. For now, rallies are out of the
question.

It's a good thing my wife is retired and for the most part so am I. We have the internet and things to do so we don't have to go out. I feel sorry
for people that have to go out.

Stay Safe!

Someone a whole lot smarter than I am once told me "Don't believe anything
that you hear, and only half of what you see!"
Since Dan Rather self destructed, I am very, very, skeptical of
anything that I see on Network News.
Judy and I recently went to see the new version of "Call of the Wild"
The entire movie of that dog was entirely computer generated. If you had no
advance knowledge of that, you would swear that all those scenes were
actual photography. Your eyes in fact, can and do lie to you. If they can
do that with a dog, a Politician should be a walk in the park, or a
witness or pretty much everything and anything that you see on T.V.
Am I a skeptical S.O.B.? You bet your sweet bippy.

I didn't agree with quite a lot that Bill Gates did (running Microsoft) but I have to appreciate what he's done with part of his considerable wealth.
He seems to have a grasp on what is happening as opposed to our lame federal government.

Let's hope he's successful

The part that bothers me greatly and was confirmed by a personal friend in the field is that many places are issuing a cause of death as COVID19 in
lieu of any other if COVID19 was involved in any way at all.

In short we are being lied to again.

I am not saying that this Chinese sponsored disease is not deadly and some precautions should be used, it is just that this is being blown out of
scale for reasons yet to be seen.

So far, this is less deadly than the H5N1 of the last round.

Political or religious commentaries or discussions. Only when there is a specific legislative bill or regulatory NPRM directly related to ownership of

Lots of other forums out there for this kind of discussion.

Politics? Who mentioned anything about that. We are all being affected on a
very real daily basis, from driving our GMC's anywhere, camping in any
Oregon State Parks, Staying in hotels or motels along 200 miles of the
Oregon Coast, Schools throughout Oregon are shut down for the remainder of
the school year. Most of the private RV parks are closed. This virus is
serious stuff. If we can't talk about it on the GMC net when it effects how
we use our coaches, then where would it be appropriate? Just wondering.

Currently, we have been instructed that nonessential travel in our GMC
Motorhome, and for folks like Lenore and I who have used our mirror homes
to visit festivals, friends, or families all over North America. That
disruption of our GMC use concerns both of us, and apparently other folks
on this forum.

If that is directed to me, that is why I am reluctant to post here anymore. Seems I get flamed regardless of what I say.

this can touch the wrong nerve with different people. But I hope with any subject on the GMC net, that you can delete or skip over what you choose.
now ever thread is perfect, like someone recommending a type of oil.

anyway- back to the purpose of this thread, I am glad no-one here has posted that they know a GMC'r that has contracted or died from this as stated
when they cancelled GMCMi- this could really mess up our ranking memebers!

I am still out doing my job, lots of care when doing so. At home, it is trying to keep the insanity, and I am actually doing some GMC projects
and having time to get them done. I have my EV6010 back working(for now). Hoping I get more then 1 or 2 trips out of it this year. I also got
a deal on a Blaine Merril hitch, and am in the process of installing that. as with anything, it is more involved then one would hope. my ev6010
muffler is in the way, and my bumpers are in worst shape then I had thought. So have some sandblasting and painting to do this weekend as well as
figuring out how to move my muffler out of the way myself as I am not going to pay another $200 for the muffler shop to do it.
