Could this be the future GMC?

Phil;

I looked at the MSV and actually went through the production facility
and then over to Classic Coach where they do a custom interior. The
design is slick and very upto
date. At the time they were switching from a 350 to the 454. They use
a pusher arrangement with the engine behind the rear wheels using a
regular tranny. There ar some small bogie wheels hidden under the rear
of the coach for added weight capability. They are difficult to see in
the pictures. Cost was 100grand for a green coach (no interior) and
another 50+ for a business style interior. It was not going to an RV -
no bath, no cooking, etc. Some draw backs for my use were $$$, AC was
totally off the engine for the entire coach, and no place for a large
generator. Storage was minimal - less than on a GMC.

But it sure does look good. I drove one and it drove nicely and the 454
had some good power. The gull wing doors were slick and the overall
design was very slick.
I think (could be wrong) that the backer of the MSV is the owner of
Republic Steel and GM is the main supplier of running gear.

Not in my estimation! I would not be interested in one since it has a major
design flaw, rear gasoline engine. Every coach that has been introduced
with a rear gas pusher has had overheating problems because of the air
circulation. Why buy one when you can get the original at 20% of the cost?

Thom,

>From my memory (poor at best) they actually had the rads up front with electric
fans.
I saw one in AZ also and drove with the salesman about 75 to 100 miles in 90+
heat and there were no heat problems and he was running with full air for both
drivers area and the cabin on. This was all run of two compressors on the 454.
The one major problem with the pusher style is that you lose 3 to 4 feet at the
rear for the engine cover. It was not designed to be an RV, but as a high class
mobile office or transport for hotels, private airports etc. According to the
factory the Saudi Royal family has one or more. I guess thay use it as the
family minivan.

I was in Phoenix on Friday and went to the collector car action in
Scottsdale on Friday. Two of these were on display. One was configured
as a limo and the other as a mobile office. From a distance, they have
kind of a GMC character but with gull-wing doors. I talked with the
distributor. They can be built to your specs. Starting price is in
the $200,000 range.
I'll keep my Eleganza for now.
