Considering selling the coach

After using the GMC for the summer and fall the CFO is convinced she doesn't like it near as much as out travel trailer. Her biggest complaint is the
lack of storage compared to the TT considering we bring a bunch of our young daughters stuff and a dog when we camp. The mileage is no different than
my truck pulling the trailer, and the MH is one more vehicle that needs to be maintained.

I love it, I think it is a blast to drive and I love the attention that it gets. I think it would be better for it to go to someone who will truly
enjoy it.

That being said, I am unsure how much to ask for it. It has a whole list of awesome additions and upgrades it is hard to set a price. It does need a
little bit more work in the interior but 85 percent of it is great, floor is solid and we used it all summer and fall as is.

Can anyone give me a fair idea of what would be a good starting price? I was thinking between 7k and 9k. I am leaning closer to the 7k mark though.

Jared - From what I know of your coach it has some goodies that make it special. The switch pitch and fuel injection, updated Onan, etc. All it really
needs as far as I know are a set of Sully bags and it's good to go anywhere. If you are in no big rush to sell I would start at around $12K and see
what sort of response you get. You can always come down if you find someone who really loves the coach but can't meet your price. Just what I would
do. And sorry to see you leave the fold, but I understand. - Dave

That is a bummer, but I can see the logic. I am sure I would have to fight the wife, on the same deal, but she has never camped with a travel
trailer, so she has no idea about the extra room. I had to get a motorhome for the simple fact that I would be towing something most of the time,
weather it is my buggy, boat, ATV or whatever.

The only thing I could say for the wife, is if you do other things with the motorhome that you can't with a travel trailer, like use it as a bus to
haul kids around town, go to the zoo, park, go get ice cream or whatever else.

As for asking price, you just need to really look over RC's list, and see what people are asking, and pay attention to what one's are SELLING for. I
can price one out locally on craigslist, but if I go back, I will see he has been asking that price for 3-4 years, so must be over priced. I have for
other items contacted people who list them for sale, and some, will notify me when they sell it and what they sold it for to give me an idea.

your price, make sure you fire it up and drive it around a bit, to keep things working.

Jared, you have already paid your dues by buying a coach and working very
hard to learn it's quirks and working to get it ready to roll. You have
used it on personal outings with your family, but, in my opinion, you have
not enjoyed the best part of GMC ownership, and that is the rallies and
club activities. You have benefitted from the knowledge of this group, but
you, and your spouse have missed a great deal of fun. Sorry that your
decision has led you to this point, but if she doesn't enjoy it, neither
will you. Sorry.

Jim, I appreciate what you said. I did do the research, and did all of the work myself to get it to a running and driving state. $3800 was the total,
my labor is free to me.

I haven't been to any rallies, although I did stop by and shake hands at the Arlington air show when the coach was still on jack stands waiting for
the brake parts. I met all of the rally members and thought it was a great deal except I am 34, the CFO is 29, and we both work full time jobs and
don't have the opportunity to really travel hard with the coach.

I have always wanted one, I finally get a great one, and have come to the realization that it is not going to work for my family at the moment.

If I was retired, had the money and the time, I would love to drive this thing out to Boston to hang out with the rest of my family, camping,
rallies,...... It would be truly awesome.

I think the coach needs to be used by someone who has the ability to do that. Go when they want, whenever they want. Our situation prevents that at
this point in time.

If anyone wants more information on my coach don't hesitate to contact me. It has under 77k original miles, formerly owned by the President of
Bayliner and the Owner of the Livingston boats.

Asking prices are helpful but sold prices are even better!

I suggest you:

1) go on eBay
2) click on "Advanced" to the right of the search box
3) enter "GMC Motorhome in the search box
4) under Search Including tick Sold Listings
5) scroll down to Sort By click on the down arrow and select Price: Highest First
6) click on Search

You will find GMC's that have sold in the past 90 days (I think) and the prices they fetched.

From what I say if you get lucky you could damn near triple your investment!

Keep it, put a history plate on it, and drive it every other month to
family happenings etc. It doesn't cost much to keep it around, and in a
couple of years time, you'll be glad you didn't get rid of it.

My CFO isn't sooo happy about me buying the GMC (and keeping it 5000mls
away from home), but it is less than 100USD a month to keep it running,
so I will keep it, as long as my friend let me use his driveway. And he
can use it whenever he feels like it as well, and if it is just to throw
his kids into it, and drive to a nearby lake for a day or weekend.

My experience in watching these coaches being offered on CL & Ebay says that they sit a loooong time once they go above $11k. The coach has to look
decent cosmetically and at least *appear* to be roadworthy to fetch even that. Take a look at this recent one on ebay:

I have looked at the idea of towing a travel trailer behind my GMC... My friend has a small 13' camper he crams into, and I have looked at towing
that, just the need has not come up.

But stupid rules and regulations if you are in any sort of regulated campground will not allow two units on the same site. So he usually goes
separate anyhow. his camper, and my GMC combined are shorter then most other things parked in the campground.

But I think Jared lives in the pacific Northwest? when I lived in oregon, I camped most places that there was not those regulations and rules, and
pulling up with the gmc and travel trailer would of worked just fine.

The jist is that you have to choose between the CFO and the GMC. Don't just kick her to the curb, give her a reasonable chance. Toss a coin.

Occasionally we see this with BWDs, but it's usually a woman who says 'my BWD doesn't like the new boyfriend/hubby/so' and we always tell them 'listen
to the dog!'. I'm not so sure that works with wives and GMCs though. I wish ya were closer to Georgia, I'd consider an upgrade to 26 feet. Two
replies have the idea though - pull the trailer with it, or consider that it's inexpensive to keep and do that. Otherwise find it a good home, and
we'll miss you.

Third idea I just had. Every kid, including yours, ought to visit The Mouse. Proceed to Orlando, drop the coach off where there's a buyer and fly
the rest of the trip. Atlanta has excellent cheeeep service to Mousetown :) :)

Kinda reminds me of the Good Ol' Southern Boy that got a Ranger Bass Boat
for his wife. Boat has a galvanized trailer, big Mercury V-6 outboard
motor, fish finder, depth sounder and chart plotter, live wells for bait,
rod holders, folding fishing chairs fore and aft. He is really gonna miss
her. (Very Big Grin)
