FWIW..
I'm researching using a PC104 based system for use on the road.
These computers are MUCH smaller w/same capabilities(ie: same processor cards, etc..)
You can also get a plugin card for GPS capabilities.
This way you could have a computer module around bread loaf size (some of you can relate to that object??) that has same features as home computer and can be built in..
W/ monitor extensions and IR keyboard, would make it very usable in the GMC..

I started down this road and decided that the cost of the PC104 or custom
brick configurations was too high by a factor of two. So, I bought a tower
and installed it permanently in the coach.

I tried IR and in the bright sun you often don't get enough signal. So, I
switched to RF using a Logitec keyboard and MS mouse (you can get a combo
mouse/keyboard from Logitec that only uses on receiver)

Monitor is a VIewsonic LCD 17" color monitor. I put it on extension cables
to be able to mount it on either side of teh coach. A DVD drive lets me
watch movies on the unit.

Yes, especially a certain Mr. Greenberg who needs a better
approach to staying in touch during the off season in Florida.
It seems like I remember that last year he vanished from
the net for the whole Summer!

I like the idea of using the 17" Viewsonic monitor. Although, IIRC, it is
tres expensive, it would replace a TV and actually provide a larger
viewing area than my current 13" screen. Couldn't it be mounted as a drop
down screen?

phone/modem connection and am waiting for NEXTEL to finish market testing
their set up.

I bought mine for $800 on a loss leader sale at Fry's but they are a bit
expensive.

You could fabricate a bracket to make it a drop down. I have a laptop PC
stand for cars that I'm playing with for the monitor.
