Hi Jim,

I have had 8 individual contribution totalling $265 so far. I have also
scrimped another $200 of my own by not giving Jan all your change when
she sends me to the store!

I may just go put a laptop on my credit card then do battle with Jan
leter. My old laptop is so unstable I am afraid I am going to lose all
the data. BTW, the Registry is now back at the 4,100 plus level thanks to
the GMC Netters.

Sorry we will miss you at Sand Hill!

Regards,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
What happens when Dave says "What the H...,no one seems to understand or
care that I have spent the time, effort, and personal funds to keep the
Registery going.I guess I'll just give it up!"
Then someone says to Dave I understand ol boy,I'll take it over,I have all
the Equipment needed. Why Dave you will have more time to play with your
GMC,start that diet(g).
Folks can you imagine how much mail you would get. Think about the recent
thread on the CW Presidents Club.
Someone or some Organization would love to have a list of 4100 Classic's
which are in need of parts. Can all of you say MAILING LIST!!!!!!
I Have said before that you will have the better part of a 50,000 dollar
bill invested in your coachs before your done with it ,so maybe the 380 or
400 on this net could be of some help here.If all of us put a 10.00 dollar
check in the MAIL NOW the registry could have a gold plated laptop and maybe
a CD burner.
When Dave accidently sent his response instead of to my e-mail I was Shocked
at how little response He has.I can tell you that I put my money where my
mouth is ,and it represents about 23% of what he has got. A used Headlight
Retaining Ring runs $9.75 delay just 1 purchase like that and the is no more
problem.
Sermon over.

Thanks to my cheerleaders for their support, but the above isn't going to
happen. I am unable to contribute much in the way of technical advice or
how to fix things and the only engineering sense I have was absorbed by
my association with the fine engineers (eletrical and mechanical) who
worked for me over my years at IBM.

I feel the Registry is a positive element in the GMC world, perhaps it
even adds a little cachet, who knows. And except for two individuals in
California, everyone has been incredibly helpful in not only sharing
their data with the Registry but have often gone way out of their way to
collect new GMCs for the Registry.

It does consume more time than I ever imagined, which until I returned to
the work force last November was not a problem. And it is still not a
problem as I enjoy hearing from GMC owners and wannabe owners and often
from past owners who wonder where the old girl has gone? The Registry may
have more value in 10-20 years from now (is that positive thinking, or
what?) when the history may be more interesting and more important to an
owner.

In any event, the Registry is still alive and well and I will replace the
old laptop on an urgent basis. I have shown my banker, AKA, Janet, some
of your letters and eMail notes and she is coming around as far as
letting go her death grip on the credit card. I was close to buying a
used laptop from one of our GMC owners when I negotiated too hard and he
decided to upgrade and keep his instead of; you guessed it! Taking on new
debt himself.

Anyway, long story short or is it too late?; I am not throwing in the
towel and I don't feel anyone is obligated to financially support the
Registry (or me) but I am overwhelmed that several GMC owners have been
moved to help in the generous way they have. I have enough money to buy a
CD Burner which was the recommended way to go and I will surely do that
plus I will find an inexpensive laptop before our February Rally
(2/9-2/12 if anyone wants to join us) and Mike Finnicum will oversee the
transferring of the Registry to the new computer.

Thanks to you all for reading this epistle.
