So with the 77 we have, we have spent the time to remove and reseal all windows on the sides. Quite the process, learning experience, new channels and screens, cutting out the drain holes, sealing the frame to the body etc.

Except the cockpit windows. We didn't do those. It does not seem many people really talk about the leaks in those windows except for the sliders, which don't leak that much. It appears at least that they are not leaking so much from the slider portion, but between the window frame and the body. Water is pouring in, and now I realize of course how rotten the wood is under each window as ell, but that waits until I stop them from leaking.

Do most people just put sealant in there between the frame and the body? Or do you remove the whole frame, clean etc. and reinstall with new sealant. I have found only one detailed approach with pics on the web, and wondering what all of you have done.

I removed the frame from the body, cleaned both and reinstalled with fresh black butyl rubber strip.

The original sealant on mine appeared to have been closed cell foam tape. The foam had turned into dust.

Thanks! Afraid that is what we will have to do, just don't see any people posting about it.

I reefed out the seam/seal with a small metal scraper reefer thing then held open the seam with a few strategically placed toothpicks ...followed up with a good squirt of polyurethane sealant.
Pulled out the toothpicks, let the seam ooze, cleaned off excess sealant with a putty knife then gave a quick wipe with a methyl hydrated rag. No more leaks.

Are there any guidelines or videos concerning replacing all the widow rubber? Can you replace the felt channels without removing the window?
