Cockpit sliding window insert

The passenger side sliding cockpit window in our '75 Glenbrook has a plastic strip/molding on the inside bottom of the channel that holds the fixed
part of the window. The plastic strip is warped and when I took it out, I found there is a drain? slot on the inside of the sliding channel, like the
drain slots on the outside. With the warped inside strip, this lets water leak in through that slot. Is that slot supposed to be there, and where
can I get a replacement for that plastic strip? I haven't found any resources that specify that part as available.

My wife and I are new to the GMC world, just got our coach in February of this year.

Thanks for any help.

Pick up the phone and call Applied GMC at 800-752-7502. They have most
anything you might need for your GMC. If, by chance, they don't, they'll
you where you can find it.
Put this number on speed dial.

Mike and Co.

Welcome to the group, family, cult, asylum....

I sure am glad you found your way here...
Have you been reading what I keep posting??
I regularly ask new arrivals to fill in a sigfile as you have already done.

Even if the original part is not available, JimK (or his henchmen) can probably supply a part that is a good fit.

You may be new to the GMC Motorhome world, but by signing in here, you have just collected about a couple of thousand brand new old friends. They are
a very supportive and helping group, so do not be afraid to ask questions and for guidance and if there are any in striking range, someone may be
there if you need assistance. That is kind of common with this community.

Something you should really try to do would be to get to the International rally that will be in Amana in late September. It is about 300 miles by
interstate from KCMO. There will be a lot of people there that you should meet. I was told to warn new people that an showing up there as a newbie
will be a lot like trying to get a drink of water from a fire hose, but if you were to just stand in one place and listen, (mouth closed may be tough)
you will probably absorb enough to make the excursion profitable.

Do you know about the "Black's List" aka GMC assist list? While there are few in MO, they are all over.

As this community reminds me so much of that of the watermen that are my world, I like to welcome all that arrive as would be welcomed there. So,

May the Good Lord bless this coach and all those that set forth within her.

Welcome Mike,

Matt

Thank you for the welcome. This is our first RV - we're getting close to retirement age and this is something my wife always wanted to do. I
resisted due to a general dislike for the slab sided boxes you see rolling down the road these days, and also a distaste for the inside glitz. The
GMC is in a whole different ballpark of course. So we bought ours - seemed reasonably well maintained with a lot of fiddly type things
fixed/replaced. We knew there would be quite a bit to do to the coach to get it "retirement ready" with hopefully the major expenses behind us. A
pretty significant knock in the engine was identified as rod bearing or piston, so "Annabelle" is now sporting a reman engine. We wanted to replace
the awful aftermarket seats with better and when I got the carpet up and the seat mount off, I found the plywood under the sliding window was wet,
rotted and I could stick my finger right through it. So all that is being replaced, but I'm trying to stop that window leak.

This particular piece of trim/moulding is a puzzle, Applied doesn't have it, nor Gateway. I'm going down the list but so far no one seems to be able
to provide it. I haven't tried Cinnabar yet because my parts book is in my wife's car at the airport and I don't have a part number. It's just hard
for me to imagine why that sliding track for the window has a "drain" slot on the inner side. Seems this trim strip is all that seals it up.

Mike
Could you add the address to the info where you have your name and the
coach? The TZE number would also be handy.

I'm too old to remember where everyone lives and between that and the TZE
number you'll be surprised in the future how handy it can be when you are
problem solving...should you ever have another problem that is!

Welcome aboard..

Life is too short to hold a grudge; slash some tires and call it even !

There should not be any drain on the very bottom felts that runs to the interior of the coach. I replaced my felts a few years back with Jim Bs kit.
The very bottom U shaped felt is rubber and you have to cut with an Xacto knife or razor new drain slots on the outside which will line up with the
drain slots on the outside edge of the window frame of the coach. Those are the only drains that I am aware of. I did this and have no more leaks.
Im wondering if the inner drains were rotted and tore open over time. Or if they are original have rusted through.

The "drain" I'm talking about is actually a slot in the aluminum channel. Maybe I can get a picture of it with my borescope camera.

Mike, we live in Battlefield MO, across the fence from Springfield. There
are several GMCers in the area, and we have a "local" club called the
Flatlanders....mostlyMO, KS, and surrounding states.

I beleive I have the part you need in my hand off of our parts coach. COME
And GET IT ;-)

Correct. Two slots I think, both on the outside of the coach. Should not be any to the inside at all.

Hoping I got this right- here is a picture looking from inside out, you can see the outer channel, the old rusty channel liner and the outer drain
slot. Right below that, there is the inside wall of the outer channel, and a dark area on the that wall. That is the slot I am talking about. There
are two of them one here and one back closer to the front side of the fixed window.

To me, the picture seems to be, from top to bottom of the pic:
the ground outside the coach
the side of the coach
the outside window track, with the water drain slots
the inside window track
a strip of foam, and other various stuff inside the side panel.

Photo enhanced, thanks to a very helpful member. Makes it easier to see that slot on the inside wall of the outer track.
