coach Vacuum system

Not to rain on your parade, but the OEM vacuum is a weak example of a
vacuum cleaner. A hand held dust buster type is far superior to it. I
removed the one in our 78 Royale and use a battery powered one from Home
Depot. But, to each, his own.

Hi, Charles.

1) 17 5/8"
2) 16 3/8"

You are welcome to remove the outlet from my coach and retrieve the on-board vacuum you gave me some months back. I do not intend to install the system. I have a small Red Devil vacuum with power beater brush for carpets that I bought several years ago that stores in the compartment under the fridge.

The 17 5/8" measurement is from the outer edge of the panel.

I find it has pretty good power. I'm away from coach now but can confirm any measurements later in the day.

Go back and read my reply on March 15.

I said: “The center of the hose connection/ switch on the face of the panel is 17” from the floor and 15-3/8” from the face of the cabinet.
The vacuum cabinet is mounted inside the cupboard opposite the hose connection. “

I sometimes feel people don’t read my messages.

I am with Jim H and others on this. We removed that weak and leaky stock vac from both of our GMCs and used a Dyson battery operated vac with a small power head instead. That was/is so much better that we now use that same unit in our Prevost. The small power head is ideal for reaching into all the small nooks and crannies in a motorhome. No need to buy the latest model as every one from a model six and forward have plenty of run time to do a good job in your motorhome on a single charge. Mount the charger/wall hanger in the back of the closet and it will be well out of the way.

Any idea if that Dyson works better than the Dirt Devil Central vac
that's a direct replacement for the GMC OEM vac?

The unit has enough suction. It lacks a powered brush head. You can upgrade to a turbo type carpet head. Or go all out and put a modern port in with
added 125VAC power and buy an "electric" hose with powered head. I have this type setup at home. On the wand the low volt switch turns on the vac at
the first detent, then moving it to the second detent turns on the brush headas well. . Added benefit is on/offf at your thumb instead of having to
unplug the hose to pause.
