Clubs Posting To GMC list

Someone had earlier posted the question as to why more information is not being posted here about various GMC clubs activities such as rallies, schedules, etc.

It has been brought to my attention that apparently the administrator of this site had decided some time ago that postings from Kim Weeks, membership and convention manager of GMCMI, were to be considered commercial advertising and her postings/replies are now restricted by being put into quarantine until the administrator can review any posting or reply from her before letting it be either rejected or posted here.

I am questioning why this is occurring. Are other GMC clubs experiencing this same treatment?

Is this practice in the best interests of the spirit of this site? Or is this something more personal? Is one person censorship appropriate? This site used to have several people on its “board” to make decisions like this (I was one of them in the past) but now one person makes all decisions like this.

Should this quarantine exist?
Are other people being restricted? Will I be restricted for posting this?

I have been asked to post this in response by GMCMI to the question of where rally information can be found:

There are many places to see the GMCMH Community Calendar. GMCMI maintains a calendar on its website at http://www.gmcmi.com/gmc-calendar/, pins the current month on each of the face book pages (https://www.facebook.com/groups/vintagegmcmotorhomes/and https://www.facebook.com/GMCMI/) with a link to the website calendar, list the current month in the monthly "GMCMI eNews" with the calendar website link, plus include calendar listings on the inside back page of the "GMC Vintage RVing" magazine.

Of course that information is only as good as the information that is provided periodically to GMCMI from other GMC clubs.

Hey, Emery. Are you sure that Kim's and perhaps your posting are subject to
censorship? I know Billy has held some of my responses because of the
lengthy nature of my responses. Is that perhaps what is occurring to you
and Kim? Just asking.

I posted the e-mail below under the wrong subject. Free Radiator in=
ternal camera inspection, with radiator/cap pressure test. I As =
many know that there are places like Face Book, and club sites out there to=
see schedules. I just don't think of searching these things out on a gener=
al bases. ( Well. I just don't. SORRY ) I'm sure this is a common occurre=
nce with those here. All the clubs in the GMC community put on events in ho=
pes that more will come to enjoy the company of others. The more exposure o=
f up coming event. The more can think of coming. Or if we're going to an ar=
ea in the country. I just won't think of a search. But if a club, or GMCMI =
just put something out as to an event in different areas here. As this sit=
e is the only site I ever go to. I'm mainly not interested in what color th=
at an owner painted their cabinets. Interesting to some. Just not my thing.=
That would put these events in my attention focal point. It would get my at=
tention as to a club event that's going to be 20 miles from were we'll be. =
Is there a down side of various club events being promoted here by any GMC=
club? Or cross promo's between clubs. We're not a stag net group by our na=
ture. The only bad promo to me is the one not put out in every venue in the=
committee. Bob Dunahugh Member Greater Midwest Classics =

Emery,

Since you chose to make this issue public, I'll respond publicly. Club
representatives are expected to abide by the same rules as every else.
They're posted for all to read at:

http://gmcnet.org/gmcnetguidelines.html

In my opinion, Ms. Weeks posts were excessive in promoting GMCMI and it's
products. In addition, her use of poor "nettiquette" by posting in all
caps - apparently to draw additional attention to her posts, exacerbated
this. I would note that this was not an issue with previous GMCMI
administrators, including yourself.

I've often used the moderation option to "cool down" contributors and that
is the current situation with Ms. Weeks. This forum does not belong to
GMCMI, but exists for the benefit of all owners and wannabees. It is
operated almost solely at my expense and as such, is a "benevolent
dictatorship".

Sounds to me like my little note about the upcoming GMCSS & GMCDL rally,
and any similar ones should be perfectly acceptable. There are certainly
plenty of notes posted which are of less broad interest than those related
to upcoming events would be. I think that once someone posted such
information it would not be repeated here an objectionable number of times.

Thanks, Patrick, for your input -- and for all the years of sheer
enjoyment and knowledge I've gained here!

Patrick,

How is that rebuilt engine coming after swallowing the valve years ago? Thanks also for hosting this crucial forum. Are you planning to take a trip
to Colorado again this spring?

Hi Carey,

I think you have me confused with someone else. To date{knock on wood}, I
haven't lost an engine. I'd love to make it to Colorado, but we did
Yellowstone last year, so we'll likely stay closer to home in 2018.
