Kathy and I are planning to retire this Summer and to take an extended trip in the Fall from Tucson to Central PA via Yellowstone. She is a planner
and is trying to plan out the trip and the various stops. One of the potential stops she wants to make is Cleveland, OH to visit the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame.

They don't appear to have much, if any, RV parking in the immediate vicinity of the hall (museum?), and we are looking for advice on where to stay in
that area (preferably shortly east of Cleveland) so we can visit in our towed car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Carl,
I would to suggest to Kathy, once you leave Yellowstone to look at the R.V.
camp at Fort Robinson Nebr. It is in the North West corner of Nebraska and
has a lot of history (Indian Wars, WWII German prison of war camp). Camp
sites are excellent, and not far from the Black Hills. GMCMI is having the
fall convention in Rapid City S.D. in September as well.

Yes, we are planning to incorporate the GMCMI in Rapid City into the trip. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Carl,
And congratulations on retirement!
Cleveland is lacking on RV parks in the city. The closest east to the R&R hall Is Maywood community campground in Chesterland, about 30 miles away.
By the big airport is Cuyahoga county fairgrounds in Berea, about 20 miles from the R&R hall of fame.
Have fun at the hall of fame, lots to see!
Scott.

Carl,

You have to pass through my area to get from Yellowstone to Cleveland, unless you plant to swim across Lake Michigan. So if you come on I-80, I-90,
or I-94 you have to go through my county on the southern tip a Lake Michigan in Indiana.

So plan to stop at least for lunch or overnight at my hangar at the intersection of I-65 and Indiana 49 in Valparaiso, Indiana.

You could also stay at the Indiana Dunes State Park to the Indiana Dunes National Park but my hanger is convenient and free.

Thanks for all the awesome information and suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

I'll copy and paste to HER email as I get them. Thanks for the offer, Ken, we just might be able to make that work.

Carl

Geneva State park has a nice campground that is 1 hour east of the Rock & Roll Hall Fame. There is not much in the way of camping that is close to the
R&R Hall. Geneva State Park is on Lake Erie. Geneva on the Lake is the town right down the road which is a fun party place. The house that was in the
Christmas Story movie is near the R&R hall also.

Kathy and Carl,

When you get a rough east bound route planned, come back and lay it out. We have done a good deal of travel along that track and can probably get you
some good advice.

Ken's offer of the hanger is neat, but if you are museum people, I may have some you can think about. Just for starters, in a suburb of Detroit is
the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. We are members of Boondockers Welcome that offers a flat place for some to stay and I keep telling
those that do want to see even only one of the two (There are actually three counting the factory tour) to plan to stay two days. It will kill a
whole day for either. Just do get back to me with the planned time so I can be ready. There is also the Gilmore if you have any interest in
automotive stuff (HFGV is not all cars) because that is one of the best car museums in the world. Then there is the Kalamazoo Air Museum (Yes,
Kalamazoo is a real city).

We are currently planning to make it to the fall rally and then wander back east, so no telling what is going to happen.

Thanks also to Jim and Matt.

Matt, Billy Massey told us about Boondockers Welcome and it sounds like a great orginization that we may also join and take advantage of.

All info is being passed on to the planner and we will discuss it as it comes in.

Thanks again, and keep it coming.
