Classified Ads

Patrick, Great format and the files are empty.

Got six wheels and tires in Albuquerque last Tuesday. No longer
spareless. Anyone out there who needs a 16.5 wheel or rim let me know.
 
The ad software looks real good. The entire site is very professional. I
check it often.

Looks pretty good, Patrick. Easy to place an ad but hard to edit.
Would like the option to browse all the ads instead of loading each
separate category. :-) damn, I'm lazy

The directory you set up needs to show how many ads are present. I found
myself going back and forth to multiple sections that were empty. Maybe
'last update' info would help as well......th

That's one of the sales tricks these guys use. The trial version is
"crippleware" - you gotta' pay to get the full featured version.

Seems to me that another "collection" is in order. How much does the software
cost?? I've got a spare $10 to kick in.

It's a fine line, like so many other things in life... if it is too
crippled it is annoying, and if it is not, no one buys it.

In my opinion, the caption 'Free Version' ought to be enough, if almost
all the features were functional.

Is there a customer's site with really loaded classified ad traffic and
does it respond quick enough? My concern would be if I bought it and
then watched it slow to a crawl as it got popular, with all the features
and search options functional.

Thanks Gary, but I think I'd rather charge a small fee for an ad, $5-10
for 30 days. That accomplishes a couple things. First, it keeps
someone from abusing the service(hopefully) and second, the people
that use it "pay the freight". Since it will probably serve a wider
group than GMCnet, no sense having GMCnet pay for the whole nine yards.
Lastly, it would pick up the revenue stream a little more - my intention
all along has been for GMCnet to be a free service, sponsored by
gmcmotorhome.com. Of course, the accounting and collection of all those
"nickels and dimes" might be more trouble than it's worth.

Any other opinions out there? Would it be worth $5-10 for a classified
ad that would run 30 days since the site is running around 12,000 visits
a month?

Good point! There were some testimonials at the publisher's site. I
follow some of the links and see how well the system operates under a
full load.
