Classic Tubes SS Brake Lines Part 2

Like Frank Folkmann, I've also been struggling with the Classic Tube
pre-bent SS brake lines. The problem that everyone seems to be having
is with the rear "crossover" section. The pre-bent lines cannot follow
the factory routing, since the factory installed the brake lines on a
bare frame and the crossover section runs on top of a frame
crossmember. I thought that the lines could be used as
supplied(especially since Heinz managed to make it work), but I've
decided that it's not possible without grinding on some frame pieces and
the fix for Classic seems simple enough.

The problem is the last section of 1/4 inch line that runs back to the
bogies. It's an "L" shaped piece with 51.5 inch by 10.5 inch overall
dimensions.

It should be installed inside the frame channel, but behind the bogie
mount there's a "U" shaped piece of steel reinforcing channel that
interferes with the line. The fix would be for Classic to "jog" the
tube out 2.5 inches 10 inches forward, like so:

I'm gonna' call Tim Slattery Monday morning and see if he'll ship me a
line modified like this. I'll keep you posted.

Patrick,

I have not installed my tubes yet, but since I am very close (1 hour) to
Classic if they would like I would be willing to take a trip over to see
them so that they could confirm the changes by looking at an actual coach

Marcus,

Sounds like a good idea as I'm pretty sure that nobody at Classic really
has a clue what they're dealing with here. I imagine that they just
bought the templates and entered the data into their computers. It
would probably help for them to actually see a GMC.

I'll mention that to Tim when I talk to him Monday.

Thanks!

If some pics are needed let me know. It'll be monday before I can get that
part over the pit easily but can do before if it'll help.
