I read with great delight the articles on the chevrolet motor. Keep in
mind the chevy block while it is true, will be around for a number of
years. It is however a very soft block and while that is not necessairly
bad,. it mearly means it is not good for a GMC
The 455 Olds was made to be used over and over and over, again and
again and again. Check the stamping on your blocks. If you are
fortunate to have one of the original 455's s[pecifically made for your
GMC motorhome you will see the casting is stamped "L" that means it has
a very high consistency of "NICKLE" and will probably never need boering
out. New rings and some honeing. The nickle is near to what is in a
diesel block, making it an extremely hard block. Chuck in Lompoc
