center kitchen Royale question

can anyone tell me if there is enough space in the rear of a center kitchen Royale to convert the existing queen bed to twin beds.
from the pictures it looks like there are additional full length cabinets that are not in the rear twin bed Royale layout. If there are is there any
reason they can't be removed or altered to make room for the twin bed length.

I owned a center kitchen Royale in 2000 and sold it a year later because I
could not put in rear twins. It will work if you are about 5 foot tall. I
debated cutting a hole in the wardrobe cabinet but ended up buying a rear
lounge Royale and converted that to rear twins. I have the rear
lounge cushings in oyster if anyone is interested in them; I will be
driving from NC to Idaho next week and could carry them to someone that
is near interstate 70 from St Louis to Denver or interstate 80 in Wymoning
to Idaho or interstate 40 from Winston Salem NC to Nashville TN. PM me if
interested.

Jerry, is there any reason you couldn't remove the cabinets to make room or is there something permanent in them that's in the way?
also was there anything you had to in the rear lounge do to make room for twins other than removing the lounge and constructing the beds?

The center kitchen Royale was 17 years ago; I cannot recall the details; I
just remember that cutting the wardrobe cabinet or even removing it was not
the way to go for me. It turned out that a friend had a Royale rear lounge
that he wanted to sell and I bought it. All I had to do for that was have
a cabinet with a drawer made to fit between the beds; had mattress's made
and tie the cabinet down above the electrical stuff that was under the
cabinet. My beds are 6 foot long and I just fit.

Joe,

The only one to come close without starting with the right version Royale was Forest Crow. He did give up much of the functional closet to do it. I
have never successfully taken pictures of what he did.

Please do both us and you a favor.
Go to and build a more complete sigfile. It should have your real name (so when others meet you, they know who you
are), a short about the coach and its major mods (there are year and build differences and some matter) and a geographic reference so others in range
may know where you are (those that read this as e-mail don't see the Victor, IA in the header).

You came aboard last year and I didn't notice that you were new here then, so I feel remiss that you did not get a proper welcome. You are now a part
of an amazing community. This is a community to helping and supportive people that will be there when you need them. This is so much like my world
of watermen that I like to welcome any new owners here much as a new owner or vessel would be welcomed there. So,

If remove them completely you would likely have the same space as the twin rear beds royalties. With ingenuity you could keep parts of them above and
below your feet.

The bed is 54" wide now and the cabinets are 18" wide to give a 72 wide bed or two 72" long twins.

We have a 78 Royal CK, and friends in WI with the same, but with twin rear beds. I asked him to measure the length of his kitchen countertop from the
left end (by the door) back to the wardrobe wall. His counter top was about 57 inches,IIRC. Our countertop is about 69 inches. That's a 12 inch
difference and how twins can fit back there.
The wardrobe is basically a module, that could conceivably be moved forward, but you might lose some lower cabinet space in the module due to the
wheel well.

so your saying that your original CK Royale counter is 69" and your friends CK Royale is modified with the counter cut to 57" and the cabinets moved
forward 12" and this gives him the same space in the rear as yours. is this correct?
the reason I'm asking is the CK Royale I'm interested in is 1200 miles away so I can't see or measure it without making the trip. so I want to be sure
it's do-able before committing.
I never thought about doing it that way , but that is a good idea as long as there isn't anything under the counter to move like water heater or
plumbing.
can you give me the name of your friend that has done this so I could contact them about what was involved in the conversion?
I was originally considering removing the wardrobe cabinets or modifying them on the bottom to allow for more leg room like someone mentioned.
I've been hoping to find a Royale with rear twins but after 9 months of looking I still can't find one in the condition I looking for. so for now it's
plan B

I just finished converting my center kitchen to rear twin beds. The lower section of both closets were removed which made the remaing upper section of
the closets to be "shirt closets" .The twin beds are each 6 feet long which are long enough for both my wife and myself. . The drivers side closet was
relatively easy, the passenger side closet was a challenge. The depth of this closset was increased by about 2-1/2". Also repiping the kitchen drain
and vent piping to clear the space for the passenger side mattres was tricky but doable. The kitchen and bathroom remained the same. I love having the
kitchen on the passenger side and rearward of of the entrance door with the extra window. Let me know if you want to go to private messaging or chat
