cellular blinds

Has anyone tried the cellular blinds from Dominion Blinds?..With the dead
air space i would think that they would be good insulaters.My main concern
is how long they will last.They are about 1/3 less than Guske and should be
much better insulaters... If they will hold up..........Thanks Pat

If you buy cheap you usually get cheap. I think that the old saying
that you get what you pay for definitely holds true here. The
window/door distributor company that I bought when I moved to Santa
Fe in 1993 and sold in 1998 also distributed window coverings. I've
see a lot of inexpensive shades over the years that don't hold up. I
used Hunter Douglas 3/8" pleat cellular Duette shades in my GMC.
They have a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser of the
blinds. They've been in for about 6 years now and I've had no
problems with them. They are also waterproof and washable (you can
even soak them in a tub to clean them if you want as metal parts are
either aluminum or stainless steel. You can't do that with a lot of
shades.

Me too. Will cost more, but work flawlessly inside our side-rail valences.
An added feature (for additional cost) is a dual shade which has twice as
much material to allow combining opaque, translucent and/or sheer material
to make a "two-way" shade. Sheer works like sun screens do on the outside of
your coach windows and opaque DOES keep out the too-early sun. Now 4-years
old, show no signs of sun damage decay.

Fritz -- yes, the dual shades are nice and are available from Hunter
Douglas as well but I wanted the continuous loop cord mechanism that
Hunter Douglas calls the EasyGlide and these are not available in
duals or else I would have used them. It has a gear driven shaft in
the header box.

To make room for the wider header box I added a 3/4" wide piece of
wood on the wood that screws to the wall and put a 3/4" piece of wood
on the back side of the top cabinet front. The cabinets screwed back
into the same holes in the wall and ceiling but gave me 3/4" more
space behind them.

Even though the dual shades are nice I have found that I usually want
the view out the window without a shade or else privacy. I have Zip
Dee awnings on both sides that usually givse me the shade I need when
camping.

Pat,
I put them in our coach this spring when we gutted it and redid the
whole interior at one time. They seem to work well. They were able to
supply them in the color that we wanted.

Emery and others,,, Thanks for the information on the Hunter Douglas
shades...Y'all sold me,,,, lifetime guarentee can't be beat.Will get them
for my home also at a later date....Thanks again Pat Morrison custom
