I have always liked those radios, Chris as they only require one hand for
operation. I haven't actually used one but I consider CB radios to be not
terribly different from one another except for the human factors designs
such as this one.

I'm not familiar with the one you are referring too, but I recently bought
one at Radio Shack that has NOAA weather bands. A nice feature when
traveling as I have listened to bad local radio stations for hours before
they give the weather. Just a thought.

FWIW:
Having used CB's for years, I have found that while the units with the
controls in the mike are nice, there is a tendency for the wires to fail
in the cable. and they are a bear to repair once broken.
A standard CB is cheaper, and mike cables are easy to replace and repair.
I've seen small standard Cobra CB's going localy for around $38 to $68. New.

Myself, I use a small CB mounted close, and once you set the controls
IE; Channel, volume and squelch, you rarely need to handle them again
except to change channels .( or to raise the squelch level up when the "skip"
is running..)

One Man's opinion.

I have repaired thousands of CB's, and you're right. They are a bear to repair. My
advice: stay away from them!

Not to be a pain in the posterior, or disagree with the experts, but I've
had a radio shack model with all controls in the mike for about 20 years
now. It has been in three different cars and has never given me any trouble.
I guess you can get lucky once in the while.
