I recently placed an order with Carparts.Com for a Wilson rebuilt 145A=20
alternator. They confirmed the order and said it would take a couple days=20
to ship it. Then they sent me a message saying that it was back ordered. At=
=20
that point I noticed that they increased their advertised price from $368=20
(which is already very high) to $552!!! Now they are telling me that the=20
alternator is no longer avalable. I suspect that is because I ordered it at=
=20
the lower price.

I am wondering if anyone else here has had problems with Carparts.Com? If=20
you have would you please drop me a line and let me know if/how it was=20
resolved.

I would also like to know if anyone knows where Wilson is located so I can=
=20
contact them directly to find out the facts about the availability of this=
=20
alternator and maybe locate another source. If you have used a Wilson=20
rebuilt alternator maybe you could look at the box and see if there is an=20
address or any other info on the box or instructions. if you find something=
=20
please drop me a line.

I am not sure what (if any) laws apply here but it seems to me that, if the=
=20
part is still avalable at the higher price, they should honor the price=20
advertised when I placed my order. This smells an awful lot like a=20
bait-and-switch kind of deal to me. Maybe not - but I would like to look=20
into it a little bit deeper before I give up.

I guess another option would be to find another source for the 145amp=20
alternator. I have not been able to locate one through my usual parts=20
suppliers. Does anyone have another source they would care to share? Even=20
if you have a Delco part number I could look for, that could be helpful.

Thanks

Dave,
Here's a suggestion, don't know if it will work for sure. Try and auto
radio shop. One that sells those high powered radios for the future young
deaf kids. They may be able to help locate the bigger output alternators.

Two possible sources for alternators:

Central Hi-Power (I talked to them several years ago - hope they are
still around)
1075 Nevada Street
Long Beach, CA 90806
(310) 427-6813

or=20
Startech in Florida
http://www.gostartech.com/
I sent an web information request to Startech. If they reply I will
post the information

I have not used either, but you can give them a try..
