That's what we've been finding out. I've even called most pep boys supply houses in Texas to check on stock and none were found.
One option for a new water pump is the GMB "130-1260P". On Amazon.

Yes, it does have the heavy duty roller bearings.

Per the illustration in the url on eBay the shaft is in ball bearings at the nose. You want one with rollers for the front bearing to handle the
asymmetric belt load(s). The Cardone one has the letter H appended to the part number, all of which is cast into the housing. They fulfikled my
order but stopped shortly - as in a few says - quit filling orders and cancelling them, all the national sources and Cardone themselves. To build one
properly, it should be align - bored after the bearings are fitted.

According to direct talks with the assistant project manager from GMB, the front shaft bearings on the hi flow and aluminum pumps are roller
bearings..
If I knew how to post pictures on this site I would post the email I received from him..

Scott, I referred to the picture in the url which purports to be that part, and shows ball bearings at the fan end. If the picture isn't that pump,
believe the maker. And ask why they used an inaccurate picture :)

According to GMB, the 130-1260P(cast iron, high flow) and the 130-1260AL(aluminum body, high flow) all have the higher quality roller bearings up
front and the higher quality ball bearings in the rear.
They also said that the 130-1260(standard flow, cast iron body) has the STANDARD quality roller bearings up front and the STANDARD quality ball
bearings in the rear..
Question is, what do they consider standard quality?

I bought a GMB 1260P and it arrived right before leaving for Mansfield.
Looked aluminum to me, but I didn’t apply the magnet test. I’ll do that
when we get home. It has an 8-blade stamped stainless steel impeller.

I just bought (at a time not of my own choosing) their severe-duty fan
clutch. Made in USA. It’s installed but I haven’t tested it yet.

Now that's confusing with the fan clutch... GMB doesn't list any manufacturing in the USA... maybe it's a Hayden branded as a GMB???
The more I look into this stuff, the more smoke and mirrors I find.....
Now I know the stress Jim K must feel while trying to source parts for the GMC community... maybe just another reason to let the suppliers handle
it..

Scott, you still have to check stuff from the suppliers—they can’t check
every detail and we can be a picky crowd with conflicting expectations and
requirements.

The Amazon listing I used for the clutch looks like what I got, but it
looks different than pictures I see of a Hayden 2797 or 2784. It’s very
similar to a Delco 4644. Shipping originated from an Amazon warehouse (?)
in Etna, Ohio. I’m driving back to Virginia using it, so we’ll see.

that translates to a roller bearing, though. Very nice looking pump, however.

You did not get the GMB 130-1260p which is the high performance version with the upgraded outer taper bearing and inner roller bearing which is the set up you want. It has a cast iron body. If you have the aluminum body version it has the part number of GMB 130-1260AL and should have the same bearing setup. The Aluminum version runs about $20 more than the CI version, other than that they are the same.

It’s definitely aluminum (silver, lightweight, and not magnetic), and the box is marked as 130-1260p. Some of the other reviews I read have stated the same (they have received the aluminum version). It also has the 8-blade impeller. I will post some pictures on the photo site shortly.

Have other folks who ordered the 1260p gotten an aluminum pump? Richard Denney? Sandy Trout?

Like I told you guys over 2 years ago. I bought Five (5 ea.) water pumps
for a seminar I presented with Jeff Frasiure on that very subject. Parts
numbers Vs. what actually comes in the boxes. Using the Gates part number
43100 which Gates shows as a superseded number for the actual water pump
that was fitted originally on the 455 Oldsmobile Agricultural/Industrial
High Nickel content engine as fitted in a GMC MOTORHOME.
I purchased 4 of them from various suppliers. One was generously
donated for the seminar by Applied GMC.
ALL WERE VERY DIFFERENT FROM EACH OF THE OTHERS, BUT CARRIED THE EXACT
SAME PART NUMBER.
Such is the state of the replacement parts stream today. It is like a
box of chocolates, you never know what you have until you lay an original
pump side by side with the replacement and compare feature for feature. I
sure don't have the solution. It's like 5 blind guys looking at an
elephant. One with a tusk, one with a tail, etc. None of them knows what
they are looking at.
