I just installed a OEM engine mounted mech. fuel pump. Pin hole gas leak
occured in fractured fuel line nut at entrance to carb. It was
interesting to note this leak continued even after engine was off for
several minutes before pressure was spent. I presume this is due to the
spring/diaphram action in the fuel pump. I replaced the nut and stopped
this leak but now I note a similar effect at a weeping gasket at the top
of the carb. (I am using abbrev. for carb. cause I can't seem to
remember the spelling). Now when I shut down engine the gasket weeps for
several hours thus dissipating gas fumes (YUK). This is the main gasket
at top of the carb. If the float valve was working right I wouldn't
think this gasket would be under pressure. So I think I must have a bad
float valve. I think I better get a carb. overhaul but wanted to know if
I am on the right track
