Very correct IMHO! The big rebuilders strip all the carbs in the
incoming pile, tank the pieces, then reassemble at the other end. Very
often what the result is is a hodge-podge of parts. That is why you'll
often find double gaskets between a body and a baseplate (because of
warpage) and other anomolies. The smart way to have your original
carburetor rebuilt. Of course, if it has a rebuilder tag on it you're
already in trouble and don't know what you have.
There is a premier Q-Jet rebuilder here in San Diego who will rebuild
your original, unmolested Q-jet to OEM specs for a price you won't
believe. Contact me off-line if you want the name and address.
