Toby, hi from another 23 fter enthusiast.....
I gave up trying to find the part in parts stores. What I did was get a
thick nylon washer (around 1/4" thick IIRC) with the correct ID and a
slightly larger OD from the local hardware. Stuck a bolt thru the hole and
gently spun it on my small bench grinder until it pressed tightly into the
fitting at the end of the cable. Absolutely NO slop in the linkage now
and has lasted for 2 years so far. If you don't have a grinder you can
always chuck it up in a drill motor and use a file on it.
Worked for me.
Best regards,

Does
anybody know where to get the bushing/grommet that
goes in the swedged-on ring on the carburetor end of the
accelerator cable? While removing the carburetor, I
thought I might replace the bushing too, and on digging it
out of the ring, it crumbled. Parts counter guys just can't
seem to find it. Any help welcome.
