Terry I don't want to start a urinating contest with someone that is web
footed in Washington, but you are either misinformed or you are jerking our
chains, when you make remarks about cam shafts, duration, the quality of
camshafts on the market today, and the fact that you can find everything
Mondello says about the olds 455 in your local library. Unless of course
your local library is Joe Mondellos garage. They don't call him Dr. Olds
for nothing. If a manufacturer grinds either or both of camshaft lobes
wrong there is absolutely no way to compensate for it when degreeing the
cam. If there is please tell me how? There is no way, and I will repeat
that, NO WAY to compensate for a cam whose lobes have been ground wrong.
And do you even know which way the cam has been ground? do you know how to
check to see if each lobe duration is correct? Can you tell from the cam
tag? Does the cam grinder use the lobe center method or the lobe separation
method, and do you know how to degree each one?
Since you have installed valve seats in n olds head how thick are they and
where did you get them? I can tell you that most shops do not know.
Bottom line is that Mondello does not need anyone to stick up for him, but I
hate to see someone make remarks about him that are totally unfounded. In my
opinion he builds the most reliable olds 455 engines available today. And
please lets stop this craziness about he can produce horsepower but not
reliability????? Guess Dave Greenberg was just lucky with his Mondello engine!
Now I am off the soap box.
