Hi folks.
I'm seriously considering a trip up the Alcan this early Summer (before
mosquito season starts) and am looking for first-hand knowledge of road
conditions rather than just relying on website information.
mainly: is the pavement real or just a rumor the tourist associations spread
around.
I've made quite a few trips up there in the late sixties. That's when the
only pavement was 10 miles either side of Whitehorse after Mile 48
I took an SOB up in the seventies. No change in blacktop. It was nice once
the Alaska border was crossed as wavy blacktop was nicer than the dust.
I may be making a mistake going back up as quite often what one remembers
just ain't so anymore. BTW, that's where I saw my first GMC, way back when
[g].
