Hi

Last week I spent the whole week going to almost all of the salvage
yards here in the Daytona area-

My mission==find as many vacuum pumps as possible and bring them to
the M/B rally

Well i have looked at over 400 cars - got bitten by fire ants twice,
been barked at by some of the meanest looking junk yard dogs, Walked
for miles climbing over cars and wrecks -- only to find a few pumps

4 of the pumps are of the self-contained type (like citation-x 2.8).
2 of the pumps are straight vacuum pumps with a sliding diaphrams and
they use an external vacuum switch (included)

All the pumps have been tested -- they all contain wire harnesses and
filters.

Price -- self contained = $55
sliding diaphram = $45

Yes this is about twice what i payed for them ---BUT I did all the
work and the profits go to a GOOD cause - '73 painted desert
restoration project (mine)

for those of you who prefer NEW = GM dealer
Part# 22034995
price $247

for those of you who prefer reman=NAPA
part# 641500
price $132 + $25core

Let me know if there is any interest ???

I know whatcha Pete. I got really lucky when I went to get one. First
car I looked at was a 82 Cadillac Cimmeron. The vac pump was easy to
get to and the brake booster still had vacuum on it. It installed and
works great.

I thought, 'Why don't I go back down there and see how many more I can
come up with for those that are having trouble finding one?'. Well, now
I know why! I searched and climbed and waded through mad far-aints for
3 hours and never did find another pump. I just didn't realize how lucky
I'd been in the first place.

The price you're charging isn't too high at all for all the work it
takes to find more than one of these gems. The risk to life and limb
alone should be worth that much. :-) And besides, that 73 Painted
Desert sounds like a worthwhile cause to me.

Good Luck at the rally
