I am in the process of putting new rings and bearings in my Chrysler
New-Yorker. It has a 3L Mitsubishi engine. I am doing a low budget rebuild
(rings and bearings only) after 175K miles. It aged gracefully but needed
new oil rings. In fact I was quite surprised at how little wear there was.=

But my question is: What kind of oil and what (if any) additives should I
use during break-in. I normally use Quaker-State oil but I am wondering if
todays oils are too good to allow the rings to seat properly (yes, its been
longer than I care to admit since I rebuilt an engine).=20
This may seem a bit off topic but I will need to know what break-in oil to
use when I get to rebuilding my 455 too. Hopefully the 455 will age as
gracefully as my Chrysler has....
