Boy have I got brakes now! Spent all day replacing vacuum lines and
fired up the engine with the rebuilt carb. Still ran like I had a major
vacuum leak(BTW, the ECS is temporarily plugged off at the carb pending
pulling the tanks for line replacement and general inspection of the
entire fuel system). I pulled the nylon fitting out of the booster and
tried to pull a vacuum on it with a pump - no dice. AHA - called Jim
Bounds to check on getting a new booster. Jim asks "Have you replaced
the master cylinder?" to which I wittily reply "Yeah - why?" Jim sez
"There's a seal between the booster and master cylinder that'll stick
with the old master cylinder - major vacuum leak if you don't replace
it." I trot over to the old parts box and, sure enough, there's this
little black seal stuck to the back of the master cylinder(Thanks
Jim!!). Ten minutes later, I'm driving around the block, stomping the
brakes every 100 feet and grinning like a madman!

The rear discs work great! I've currently got the 60mm calipers on all
four rear and 80mm front. As soon as my cousin-in-law comes up with
some caddy backing plates, I'll upgrade to the 80's on the center also.

I've said all this just in case there's one other person besides me that
didn't realize there's a vacuum seal between the booster and master
cylinder. BTW, I'm using the NAPA master cylinder and it's working fine
for me - don't know why Emery got two bad ones. Maybe my luck's getting
better.
