Hi all
With all the changes to Disc Brakes anybody have a pair of good Drums they
are looking to sell?
A week or so ago someone mentioned the level plug on the side of the A-6 AC
comp , can excess oil be removed from the system that way? After a hose
failure I added too much oil charge , I hope I don't have to remove the
compressor to remove excess oil, I plan to discharge the system first.
I'm running 5w50 Castrol Syntec full Synthetic, so far it seems to be just
fine, no leaks, 2000 miles plus between quarts and slightly lower engine
temp. This is after about 5000 miles.Curiously I paid $2.39 at a new Target
store here in LINY, other Target was charging $3.99 so I bought about 30
Quarts at lower price, I started to feel like a nut stockpiling. Then the
price went up to $3.99, wish I bought more.Maybe this is new store opening
promo.
Still looking for front over couch LOUVERED door cabinet.

Regarding the oil bung on an A-6... In many compressors, yes, there is a
hole drilled through the bolt that lets you "ease out" the excess oil. I
don't know when (or if) they stopped outfitting this feature.

Manual 7725 gives a procedure starting on page 1B-64. Unless you added a lot
of new oil, I wouldn't be too concerned unless the system is oil 'slugging',
that is not cooling adequately with a full charge of refrigerant but not
freezing over due to moisture contamination.

Bottom line -- if it works OK, don't sweat it. These systems move a lot of
oil throughout the system all the time, and the cycling clutch makes that
trend even more prevalent on these coaches.

Also, remember that R-12 is very scarce (actually, almost impossible to
find). You may have already known that but I'd hate to see you loose a
refrigerant charge and not be able to replace it. Market prices are right at
$50 a pound this week.
