As I said, it allegedly acts as an accumulator. That's a fancy word meaning
something along the lines of a surge tank. In theory, it is a reservoir
having a volume of brake fluid under pressure available for immediate use
outside the confines of the master cylinder and can smooth out any
pulsation's in the brake circuit's.

If Duane cares to jump in, I'm sure he knows more about that system than I
do since he sells them.
